Advanced Imaging

Bear River Animal Hospital considers the use of advanced imaging technology a critical tool in modern diagnostic procedures. This equipment gives us a non-invasive way to observe your pet’s internal physiology so that we can provide a more thorough and accurate diagnosis.

Digital Radiology

Digital imaging allows our staff to view x-rays more quickly, not to mention more clearly. Radiographs are used to detect bone fractures, bladder stones, tumors, soft tissue problems (those related to heart, stomach, intestines, reproductive and urinary systems) as well as to locate foreign objects such as toys or rocks. The imaging process is completely painless and can be performed on calm and cooperative pets without sedation. We may administer a sedative or general anesthesia in cases where a dog or cat has trouble becoming relaxed naturally.

Ultrasound

An ultrasound machine uses sound waves to penetrate the internal organs and creates an image that is displayed on a monitor. The procedure involves using a hand-held probe on the skin above the area being studied. Ultrasound simplifies the diagnoses of internal disease by providing us a clear view inside the patients heart, stomach, liver, kidneys and other internal organs. Some of the common reasons to ultrasound are for heart murmur, liver disease, kidney disease, pregnancy, urinary bladder disease and screening for cancer.
